Michael is running an open house which Marie Schrader attends. He introduces himself to her and to which she replies with the fake name "Tori Costner". He tells her about the features of the house and mentions her being married after seeing her wedding ring. Marie lies telling him that she recently got divorced and is still wearing the ring due to "old habit's". He asks if she has any kids and she lies again saying she has a 4 year old son. He mentions how the Neighborhood preschool is great but she retorts saying that her son "Eli" is going to be homeschooled, after clarifying it's not for religious reasons. She then says that she'll still have him do social activities with other kids like summer camp and sleepovers, he agrees saying it "makes sense". Marie asks about the Casita saying she works with clay so she needs running water. He tells her it's "pipe fitted for a quarter bass" and "it'll make the perfect studio". She tells him that the house could work for her. Marie would later steal a figurine from the house, unbeknownst to Michael. ("Open House")
