Jane Margolis describing the effects of heroin to Jesse Pinkman[src]
Heroin - Heroine

Heroin is commonly used as a recreational drug for its euphoric effects. It is used medically in several countries to relieve pain or in opioid replacement therapy. It is typically injected, usually into a vein, but it can also be smoked, snorted, or inhaled. The onset of effects is usually rapid and lasts for a few hours.

Season 2[]

Jane injects heroin into Jesse

Jane Margolis injecting heroin into her boyfriend, Jesse Pinkman.

Jesse Pinkman and Jane Margolis are taking heroin when they were together, with the latter bringing a small box containing two syringes, a raw piece of heroin and a spoon. She mixes the heroin with crystal meth, combination commonly known as "speedball". ("Mandala")

Jane later teaches Jesse how to prepare injectable heroin/speedball. After Jane's father finds out that his daughter has been taking heroin again, after 18 months of being clean, he nearly calls the police on her and Jesse. Jane later died of a heroin overdose after Walter White accidentally knocked her on her back, causing her to choke to death on her own vomit. ("Phoenix")

After this incident, Saul Goodman sends Mike Ehrmantraut to remove every trace of drugs from Jane's apartment, including the heroin kit. Walt also sends Jesse to rehab where he gets clean from his heroin addiction. ("ABQ")

  • While Jesse Pinkman eventually relapses on drugs following the murder of Tomas Cantillo, he never does heroin again, having permanently gotten clean of it after being sent to rehab by Walter White.
