Toys "R" Us[]

"'Florida mom petitions against Toys 'R Us over Breaking Bad action figures.' I'm so mad, I'm burning my Florida Mom action figure in protest"
Bryan Cranston[src]
"Wait, so @ToysRUs pulled all of the Breaking Bad figures from their shelves and still sells Barbie? Hmmmm...I wonder what is more damaging? [...] And what about all of the violent video games you sell @ToysRUs? Do you still sell those? Florida mom really messed it up for everyone."

On October 20th, 2014, it was reported by multiple news outlets that action figures of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman were being sold at a Toys "R" Us location in Fort Myers, Florida.[1] Susan Myers created a petition for the toy store to prevent the future sale of the dolls so parental figures "should not be forced to explain why a certain toy comes with a bag of highly dangerous and illegal drugs or why someone who sells those drugs deserves to be made into an action figure."[2]

The next day, the petition received over 8,000 signatures and global media coverage.[3] The toys were pulled off of store shelfs with the official statement being, "Let's just say, the action figures have taken an indefinite sabbatical". However, the retailer originally mentioned that they were intended for adults.[4]

Albuquerque statues[]

Albuquerque Breaking Bad Statue July 2022

On July 30th, 2022, the city of Albuquerque held a ceremony for a life-size bronze statue of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from the Breaking Bad series that's located in the Albuquerque Convention Center.[5] Conservatives local to the area disapproved of the status stating that the statues would "glorifying meth makers".[6] However, mayor Tim Keller believes that the series has a positive economic impact on the city.[7]
