Hector Salamanca
The man was one of the founders of Mexican Cartel that dominated the drug trade in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He raised all of his nephews into dangerous psychopaths who care only about their evil and fucked up family, with Lalo being the most dangerous of them all. In addition to these, he also killed Gustavo Fring's boyfiend and made Gus take a darker path in his life which started a 20 year long bloody and destructive feud between Gus and the Salamanca Family. This feud has caused so much harm and destruction across both shows that it is tragic to watch. Even then, Gus never managed to recover from it at all as even when he has a chance to find someone else to love, he can't let go of what happened to Max, that's how much Hector had scarred him for life.
Not to mention, in a universe filled with crooked lawyers, dangerous drug lords, shady businessmen and Neo-Nazis, Hector stands out as the worst of them all due to being a homophobic, racist and misogynistic barbatic thug who even when he isn't doing Cartel-related business still acts like a malignant and disgusting piece of shit who gives no fucks about actually even trying to do something morally or even legally acceptable in his life. I mean, Jack Welker is similar but it was never even implied that he abused Todd and even seemed to respect Todd's genuine affection for Lydia. Hector on the other hand likely views women as a means to an end to gain sexual pleasures and to continue the Salamanca bloodline and I wouldn't even be surprised if he personally killed ex-lovers of his nephews or hell, even made his nephews killed them.
To make matters worse, he is incredibly hypocritical and cowardly as he despises everyone who is an enemy of the Cartel, all the while he views his loyalty to Don Eladio as a fucking burden that he is forced to tolerate and even curses Eladio behind his back only to act submissive and quiet when actually being in the same presence as the man. He is also fond of preaching about how āFamily is Everythingā when himself is not above threatening to have the family members of others getting killed, but when someone kills one of his own family members (who died due to their horrible actions, for which Hector is responsible for yet again), he immediately demands revenge.
The man is like responsible for 90% of the horribe events across both shows and also being a horrible piece of shit 24/7 with no breaks. The fact that nobody mentions him when discussing the most evil characters of the Breaking Bad universe just fucking baffles me.
Still a great character though, wondefully played by the late Mark Margolis.
@CalicoJack2017 Honestly wouldnāt be surprised if the Salamanca family procreated through r*** or having mistresses who are subservient to the Sslamanca men or are just bought off and flooded with wealth to not think about their partnerās crimes or their own abuse.
What do you think?
