So who do you guys think is the true instigator of the butterfly effect of death in the series? Some say it's Walt because he got into the drug business. But what if it's actually Saul?
Think about this. While Walt chose to break bad on his own, his business with Gus which would have lead to Jane's death (the first time he crossed the line) would never have happened had Saul agreed to represent. Yes he was forced by Walt, but Saul didn't seem to mind in the end so long as he was paid. Had Jimmy not become Saul to begin with, he would not have gotten involved with dangerous/soon to be dangerous criminals like Walt. Plus, let's talk again about Gus. Gus would not have taken over the business which lead to more death at Walt's hands had it been for Mike and Nacho right? Cause Mike robbed Hector and sabotaged his deliveries which caused him to get angry and take pills for his heart that were replaced by Nacho. BUT many people wonder hat caused Mike to suddenly get revenge on Hector. While avenging his family seems plausible given Hector threatened to kill them, I feel like pride also plays into his motive. And for me the one who damaged his ego further and may have pushed him to revenge was Jimmy. After Jimmy helped Mike get Tuco's jail time reduced, he started telling Mike how smart he was for doing it, how dangerous the cartel was, and to make matters more condescending, told Mike he didn't have to pay, which obviously annoyed Mike. Whether or not Mike was always planning this can be up for debate, but Jimmy's pandering to him obviously didn't help. And when Jimmy tells Mike about his encounter with the Salamancas, I think Mike is especially angered by this because he doesn't want to believe he's on the level of Jimmy, whose this coward and low life lawyer to him. In a way, I feel like this makes Jimmy inadvertently responsible for Hector's paralysis, which in turn lead to Gus taking the business, which in turn lead to Walt building his way to being the Kingpin he was. I can see based on what I've said that some might actually think Mike is the true instigator, or maybe even Hector or Gus, but again, Walt would never have gotten away with his crimes had he went to Saul, who chose the path of being a criminal lawyer. And I also want to make it clear that I'm not saying Saul's the bad guy and Walt has no blame, I'm just saying that I've noticed the "butterfly effect" plays an important in the show cause it shows that however little you break bad, you will directly and indirectly leave a negative impact on those around you. What do you guys think? Who really started it?
